A few weeks ago, we quietly celebrated the two year birthday of Veritas Church. And by "we" I mean just Alvin and I, remembering and reflecting over breakfast one day. We are so, so grateful to God for this church, the faithful, loving people that attend, and the wonderful facility that houses us. So much has changed in the past 2 years, and we are looking forward to what God will bring in the future.
Two years ago, Alvin and I, the Lasch's, and our college friend Paul gathered at the Lasch's home on a Sunday evening and called ourselves "Veritas." 5 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 kids.
We didn't have the backing of a denomination or support from any church. We just knew that this was what God was calling us to do, and we moved forward, learning as we went.
By January of 2010 we moved our meetings to Sunday mornings, marketed ourselves through facebook and a website, and prayed and waited to see who God would bring. During the "home church" phase, we became a 501 (c) (3) charity, and decided to become affiliated with Calvary Chapel ministries.
In Nov. of 2010 we moved into Wittmann Elementary and continued to grow. Calvary Chapel partnered Alvin up with a mentor pastor, who has been a true friend and encourager to him. Alvin has been able to receive so much encouragement and training through the Calvary Chapel organization, and many pastors have become prayer partners and friends.
Today in church there were 26 adults, 2 teenagers, and 4 kids (including 3 visitors!) Growth is slow, but steady. We are confident that God is building His church, and we do not take one precious soul for granted. Thank you God for the opportunity to be apart of this wonderful church.
